In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for the alleged killing of a 70-year-old woman during a dispute with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. According to police reports, Bijendra Kumar, the son of the deceased, had a confrontation with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same area. An official stated that during the argument, Ramvati Devi, the woman who was killed, tried to protect her son. Unfortunately, Majid pushed her, causing her to fall and suffer fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava of Kavi Nagar mentioned that Bijendra, along with his brother and mother, resided in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna in Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver allegedly intoxicated, was seated outside the Kumar residence. The confrontation began when Bijendra questioned Majid about his presence there, leading to the argument escalating. Ramvati intervened to defuse the situation, resulting in Majid pushing her, causing her fatal injuries. Ramvati was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead. A post-mortem examination was conducted, and an FIR was lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law. The accused has been presented in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
